The Resume Pro AI

Automatically build your resume using natural language

What it did

The app was designed to build your resume for you and all you had to do was have a conversation with it

Who it was for

It was for users who either didn't know or didn't want to build or update their own resume

Why it failed

It failed for a lot of reasons, honestly. This was my first app I actually brought to the web. I didn't market it, like at all. I barely even knew was SEO was. It was missing tools competitors had. I made it a monthly subscription model for a tool people only needed to use once or twice.

The biggest mistake

My biggest mistake was not properly validating the idea before building. I built it because it was something I felt I could use, and I did use it. But again I only used it a few times for personal reasons. If it were me, I'd have no reason to pay a monthly subscription for this.

Lessons learned

This was one of my biggest learning opportunities. Learn to price things right. I learned how important marketing and just getting the word out is. I learned that you need to build with SEO in mind FIRST, not after the fact. The lessons learned from this feel endless.

What we'd do differently

If I were to build this again, I would change the onboarding flow. I'd also change it to one time purchase rather than a subscription. I'd hold off on release until I was able to get all of the tools I wanted it to have done first. I'd also be more patient with a waitlist, pre-orders, and ensuring everyone knew about it before I released.
